The Swedish invention tears through the archipelago
Swedish drone boats navigate without GPS — and can carry bombs. The vessel looks like an ordinary motorboat, but no one is at the helm. Instead of GPS — easily jammed in the Baltic Sea — it orients itself using islands, lighthouses, and sea markers compared against a map. In a conflict scenario, it could block straits, attack enemy ships, or carry out kamikaze missions. 'A large part of this is the deterrent effect — you know you can't get in, because then you'll be sunk,' says researcher Andreas Jakobsson.
